Ahhhh to stop and enjoy the season.
It's so hard when we're mompreneurs, right?! I find myself torn between growing my business and missing out on my children growing, but, at the end of the day, what matters? Family. That's it. These little munchkins and that husband that loves me.
This past weekend I indulged--four days off! Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving (again), family day, and decorating day. Oh, how I DREAD decorating day! All this adorable, festive stuff that everyone loves to put up but that only Mommy takes down.
You know why I dread it? I love my home. As is. BUT. I will decorate it and make it corny and adorable and lively and Christmasy because--because my kids will remember THAT. They WILL remember ugly multicolor lights on the tree (deep sigh).
(I hope Joanna Gaines and all her fashionable rustic shiplap sense isn't reading this.)
They will remember the Santas, the ornaments, the wreaths, and the lights. And they better darn well remember the Elf of the Shelf. Because that thing moves--sometimes at magical 2 am--for them. And he may only move six inches. But dammit. He went all the way to the North Pole and back for those six inches. Bless him.
So today I remind you. Ignore the mess. Ignore the crazy. Ignore the glitter--or don't--glitter is just plain sprinkly poo. But REMEMBER the children, the dancing, the memories, and the MAGIC. Remember how real everything was when you thought it was real. Let your house be Christmas everywhere. Do it for them.
...and you may enjoy it a little bit, too.
